Visiting Lewis & Clark is the best way to get to know us. Our three campuses—undergraduate, graduate, and law—are nestled in a forest just six miles from downtown Portland, and we have a free shuttle that will take you there.
Our undergraduate campus spans a ravine and is surrounded by trees, giving you ample space to explore and connect with nature.
Our law school is located next door to Tryon Creek State Park, which is where you’ll find members of our community hiking the 13 miles of stunning nature trails.
And our graduate school has an expansive green lawn that serves as a backyard, commonly listed as our students’ favorite place on campus. It’s also where our bee garden is housed!

Cheer on Your Peers
Almost 20 percent of our undergraduates compete on our 21 varsity sports teams. Attending games to cheer on your peers is a great way to spend time with friends, build community, and show your school spirit. Full athletics schedule.

Lewis & Clark is located in the lush hills of South Portland, the city’s “sixth quadrant.” But our beautiful campuses aren’t the entire story—our location offers something that most other schools do not: an ideal setting in a vibrant, progressive city with endless networking, entertainment, and cultural resources.
Getting Outdoors
The benefits and beauty of the Pacific Northwest are right outside our door. This area contains some of the most spectacular and well-maintained scenic areas in the United States.
Good Eats
Portland is nationally renowned for its food scene, which includes options for almost every food preference and dietary need. We were even given the title of best pizza in the country from Modernist Pizza!
Things to Do
It’s impossible to provide an exhaustive list of things to do and see in a city as vibrant and diverse as Portland. We can promise you this, though: you won’t lack for great opportunities to have fun.

Sophia Riley BA ’25More about SophiaMy favorite part of Portland is the Willamette River. Anywhere you drive in Portland you probably can see the big, snaking, beautiful river. It is so grounding, and reminds me of our connection to river systems, and communities of people, miles and miles away.
Mithila Tambe BA ’25More about MithilaI love the duality in energy and atmosphere that Portland’s music scene offers. I really like being able to go from the floor-shaking concerts in big venues to neighborhood jazz performers in hole-in-the-wall restaurants.

We’re just a bit north of the halfway point between the North Pole and the Equator, at roughly the same latitude as Lyon (France), Milan (Italy), and Sapporo (Japan).
We’re also at the same latitude as Burlington, Vermont, and Minneapolis, Minnesota (but without the subzero temperatures.)

On Being a Porous Boundary
On Being a Porous Boundary is copresented by Lewis & Clark College and A-B Projects at the Ronna and Eric Hoffman Gallery of Contemporary Art. The exhibit features immersive paintings, bodily ceramic sculpture, and monumental paper sculpture by Catherine Fairbanks. This work is accompanied by intimate poetry by Catherine Barnett, which has been hand-drawn for the exhibition by Nuria Kiesebrink-Pareick.

Free Legal Answers In-person Workshop
Join Director of Public Interest Law, Kyle Johnson, and volunteer attorneys in a workshop to help low-income Oregonians. Students will help local attorneys spot legal issues and answer questions that real clients submit to an online queue. Gain real-life practical experience, earn Pro Bono hours, and build your public-interest community! Registration required. Pizza provided!
